Our Story

In 2011, First United Methodist Church started acting on a dream – to reach new people in new places.  At the time, they didn’t know exactly what that would look like.  But, they started by asking Rev. Kathy French to come on board as an associate pastor and start figuring it out.  Over the next 12 months, and countless hours of work and prayer, Connections, an extension campus of First United Methodist Paris was born.

Foundational to the process was the word ‘connect’.  Often, the launch team dreamed of ‘connecting’ people with God, as well as with one another and the larger community.  So, at first we called ourselves the Connections Project – eventually, “project” was dropped and Connections became our moniker.  In February 2012, a lease was signed on 5000 square feet of strip mall space.  Lots of renovations were required and at the time it seemed way to big for our 35 team members.  But, after months of renovations, monthly worship services, mission projects and outreach events, weekly worship began on May 6th, 2012.  It’s been a wild and crazy ride every since.  Two years later (on our second birthday)  we opened our ‘expansion’ – an additional 3000 square feet of adjoining space that allows us to offer larger nursery rooms and multiple classroom spaces.

What’s next?  Who knows!  We hope you’ll come and be our guest, and help us write the next chapter.
